When it comes to health, timing is everything. Every day in Tennessee, thousands of people seek medical care, and in doing so, they trust that their ailments will be diagnosed correctly and in a timely manner. When doctors and health care providers make an incorrect diagnosis or delay treatment, the consequences can be devastating and sometimes deadly for the patient.

Medical Malpractice Lawsuit

Recently in another state, two parents filed a lawsuit over claims that their 32-year-old daughter’s untimely death was the result of medical malpractice. According to the lawsuit, the daughter began experiencing chest pains, which prompted her and her mother to visit a local emergency room. Apparently, the daughter had been previously diagnosed with a heart valve abnormality which put her at risk for certain conditions. While at the hospital, the woman apparently complained that she was in excruciating pain.

Her mother said she expressed concerns several times that something was wrong, but hospital staff failed to order tests. Allegedly, the woman was diagnosed with aortic dissection nearly five hours after arriving at the hospital. Reportedly, the woman underwent emergency heart surgery and died after suffering cardiac arrest. The plaintiffs claimed the woman’s death was caused by delays in treatment from her medical providers. Reportedly, the lawsuit was recently settled with the family receiving $7.25 million.

Where To Get Help

When doctors and other medical professionals make mistakes, it is the patients and families who suffer the consequences. Anyone in Tennessee who has been injured or lost a loved one as a result of medical malpractice can get help by speaking with a skilled litigator. Damages from a successful lawsuit could help victims and families pay medical and end-of-life expenses.
